How do I get to the NM EPHT Portal? The direct URL for the NM EPHT Portal is https://epht-imp.unm.edu/cgi-bin/nm_epht/epht_home.py. Click on the NM EPHT logo to the right of the NM Department of Health banner image and the Portal opens in a new window or tab. Or, click on ‘Discover, Query, and Map Data’ under ‘New Mexico Mapping’ on the Home page (nmtracking.unm.edu) to open the Portal in a new window or tab.
What can I do on the Portal?Once you have logged in to the NM EPHT Portal (Public log-in information is shown on the page) you will select a data set from a menu of categories (called vocabularies) and keywords. After those selections, you will be able to Get Data, View Metadata, Get Table, Extract KML, and Extract GML. With the Get Data option, a menu of data attributes for the selected data set is presented. You can choose one or more attributes and then map them. The mapping function allows you to add multiple data set attributes, move them up and down in the layers list, and use standard Web mapping tools, such as Zoom In, Zoom Out, Pan, Identify, and Full Extent. NM EPHT Portal Users' Guide (external site, opens in a new window or tab). The Portal continues to be developed for additional data sets and functions, such as graphing functions.
How is the New Mexico Portal different from CDC's Portal? Both the New Mexico and CDC/National Portals allow you to access and visualize data sets. The CDC/National Portal, also called the National Tracking Network, presents data sets that have been processed according to standardized guidelines from all EPHT Grantees. The NM Portal might include New Mexico's contributed data sets and it will present data sets that are specific to New Mexico's environmental health needs, and that have been processed and analyzed for conditions and studies that are important to New Mexicans. Both the NM and CDC Portals link to each other.
How do I request access to more data than the Public access allows? All requests for Secure (non-Public) access to the NM EPHT Portal, and therefore, secure data sets on the Portal, must be made to the NM EPHT Program at the New Mexico Department of Health Environmental Health Epidemiology Bureau. Call toll-free, 1-888-878-8992, or e-mail, doh-eheb@state.nm.us.
How do I get more information about environmental health in New Mexico? The NM EPHT Program is managed and funded at the Environmental Health Epidemiology Bureau (EHEB) with the New Mexico Department of Health (NM DOH). Visit their Web site (external site, opens in a new window or tab): NM DOH Environmental Health Epidemiology Bureau.
